Senior CAE Engineer
For all who keep the world moving.
We as Mercedes-Benz Türk develop and produce Trucks & Buses in our factories based in Istanbul & Aksaray in order to shape the future of sustainable transportation.
We are an important part of the production and R&D network of Daimler Truck AG.
Everything we do, contributes to a cleaner, safer, more efficient and distinctive future. We start with listening, build to solve, lead with the long view and progress together!
Are you ready to be part of our global team to keep the world moving?
Why you matter in this role
When you join our Engineering team, you’re not just designing trucks —you’re shaping the way people live, move, and connect. Think about it: from delivering essential goods to local communities, to ensuring medical supplies reach hospitals on time, to supporting the massive supply chains that keep our world running—our work touches millions of lives every single day.
From the very first sketch to the moment our trucks hit the streets, your ideas will help making transportation more sustainable, safer, and more accessible for generations to come.
And this is where you make us! If you’re curious, collaborative, and eager to grow, this is your chance to create solutions that move not only people—but the world—forward.
What you can expect:
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) at full vehicle, subsystem, and component levels with strong focus on plastic and composite parts under stiffness, strength, and durability requirements
- Build, validate, and interpret FE models, including nonlinear behavior, contact, large deformations, and multi-axial loading conditions for plastic components
- Develop, apply, and continuously improve durability and failure methodologies for plastic and fiber-reinforced components used in truck applications
- Integrate injection molding simulation results (e.g. Moldflow, Moldex3D or equivalent) into structural FE models, including fiber orientation and local property mapping for orthotropic and anisotropic material definitions
- Execute durability and lifetime simulations of plastic parts under realistic service loads, including effects of anisotropy, strain rate, temperature dependency, creep, and aging where applicable
- Correlate simulation results with component and system tests; define material limits, safety factors, and validation strategies together with testing teams
- Actively drive design optimization of plastic parts based on simulation results, balancing durability, weight, cost, and manufacturability
- Coordinate and technically negotiate design changes with design engineers, suppliers, and testing departments based on CAE findings
- Manage several CAE projects and components in parallel, including prioritization, alignment with project timelines, and stakeholder coordination
- Work closely with global R&D and CAE teams across Daimler Truck locations (e.g. Germany, USA, Brazil, India)
- Contribute to method development and standardization for plastic simulation (material modeling, failure criteria, connections, process–structure interaction)
- Develop and maintain Python/CAE scripts to automate preprocessing, postprocessing, result evaluation, and reporting; contribute to defining CAE workflows and standards.
That’s why you are a match:
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related technical field
- Strong experience in FEM-based durability and strength analysis at component and/or system level
- Deep expertise in plastic material modeling within FEM
- Solid understanding of material testing, data evaluation, correlation methods, and definition of material allowables
- Proficient use of CAE and FEM tools (e.g. ABAQUS, ANSA, PERMAS, Digimat or equivalent)
- Ability to manage multiple topics and projects simultaneously in a structured and reliable manner
- Strong communication skills and confidence in technical discussions and negotiations with design teams and suppliers
- Team oriented mindset with strong collaboration and interpersonal skills in an international environment
- Analytical, structured way of working with high level of ownership and responsibility
- Very good command of English
Nice to Have:
- Hands-on experience in process–structure coupling, including injection molding simulation (Moldflow, Moldex3D or similar), mapping of fiber orientation tensors and process results into FE models
- Experience with plastic and composite failure criteria (e.g. Tsai Wu, Puck, Hashin or comparable models)
- Programming/scripting skills (Python preferred) for CAE automation and data evaluation; experience defining robust CAE workflows
- Very good command of German
