Sanctions & AML Specialist

Sanction checks and money laundering prevention are an essential part of our Compliance management system, ensuring our worldwide business is always in line with relevant legislation.

 

Your role within our Sanctions, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) team is to actively identify and mitigate financial crime risks by reviewing cases and complex customer structures. Through analysis and well‑documented assessments, you provide guidance to sound compliance decisions and effective risk management.

 

Furthermore, you will independently analyze and evaluate potential sanction list hits – data entries that are being flagged by our monitoring system but require verification. We need to examine these cases, match our internal data with sanction list data and determine whether business with these parties can be concluded or needs to be stopped.

 

The position is located in İstanbul, but the candidate will be directly work for Daimler Truck AG in Germany to support worldwide.

 

What you can expect:

1. AML assessments:

  • Review and assess AMLrelevant alerts, suspicious transactions and business relationships.
  • Conduct Know-Your-Customer (KYC) assessments, Customer Due Diligences (CDD) and, where required, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) checks on customers and business partners
  • Identify, assess, and document AML and sanctions risks in accordance with internal policies and applicable regulations
  • Support the escalation and handling of suspicious activity reports (SARs), where applicable
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and proactively contribute to the enhancement of AML processes and controls

 

2. Sanction list checks – hits clearing

  • Independent case management of sanctions lists screening.
  • Analysis of the current sanctions law of the European Union and the United States of Americas.
  • Coordination with local business functions to clarify data and align next steps in contentious cases.
  • Identification of patterns of false positives for continuous improvement of our search engine.

 

3. Reporting:

  • You develop and create reports, analyses, and statistics in relation to AML and Sanctions topics.

 

4. Communication:

  • You represent the CoC Sanctions, AML & CTF in communication with internal stakeholders.
  • You communicate regularly with HQ in Germany for status updates, process improvements, escalation of critical topics.

 

That’s why you’re a match:

  • Degree in law or Graduates of International Relations, Economics, Finance, Business Administration / Informatics, Banking with legal knowledge knowledge:
  • Professional experience in Compliance, Audit or another relevant function for 1-4 years.
  • Sound knowledge of AML/KYC regulations and international standards.
  • Basic knowledge of U.S., EU and other relevant sanction regimes.
  • Strong analytical skills and a structured, detail‑oriented working style.
  • Ability to assess complex matters and document results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience in reviewing AML-relevant cases and conducting due‑diligence analyses are a plus.
  • Experience with data analysis; experience with screening processes is a plus.

 

IT skills:

  • Very good MS Office skills.
  • Affinity for the digitalization of processes.
  • Experience with SAP, data analytics, big data are welcome.

 

Language skills:

  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.
  • German skills are a plus.

  • Analytical mindset.
  • Confident communication with stakeholders on all levels.
  • Independent, self-reliant way of working as well as flexibility and commitment.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and attention for detail.
